Basic Genetics

I learned that our genes encode instructions that define our traits from the Heredity page. I also learned that people have alleles, which can be passed on in traits. This causes a child to have either a Hitchhiker's Thumb or a Straight Thumb. A Straight Thumb can be shown as HH or Hh. A Hitchhiker's Thumb is shown as hh and is curved at the tip.
